PCD end mills
Polycrystalline diamond, produced synthetically by sintering diamond crystals with a relatively soft metallic binder phase. Unlike CVD cutting materials, it is therefore relatively insensitive to unstable clamping.
Very well suited for graphite, Al/Si alloys, copper and brass as well as plastic composites such as GFRP and CFRP. Because of the affinity of iron for carbon, generally not suitable for steel materials.

CVD end mills
Chemical Vapor Deposition: ultra-hard thick-film diamond with the highest hardness and the highest wear resistance of all cutting materials tested. Unlike PCD, it has no soft binder phase – a 99.9 % pure, homogeneous diamond layer.
The main applications are composites such as CFRP and GFRP, graphite, titanium, ceramics, non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, and E.MAX in dental technology.
